The Final Flight of Discovery

Space Shuttle Discovery is setting sail one final time today to its final resting place at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. Headed out from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center while riding piggyback on a repurposed Boeing 747 jet airliner, creatively titled “Shuttle Carrier Aircraft”, it’s a great opportunity for a photo-op before the good ol’ girl is retired for good. Fortunately for shuttle fetishists, NASA is constantly uploading new pictures of the journey in real time over here:over at this link. Godspeed, Discovery!
